In order to participate in teletherapy, you will need a computer with a web camera (a web camera can be purchased separately if one is not built into your computer), and a good internet connection.

Teletherapy will be provided by the speech-language pathologist via a safe and secure platform such as zoom.
Teletherapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for many conditions. It is a great option for busy families, families who live far away, have limited transportation, or limited mobility. To best determine if teletherapy is the right option for your situation, please call for a free consultation.
Please note that every insurance has its own teletherapy stipulations and coverage will be based on your healthcare plan. You can call your insurance and call us to discuss if teletherapy is a covered service.
Teletherapy is always an option for private pay clients. Due to licensing regulations, at this time we are able to provide teletherapy services to Missouri and New York residents.
For our home bound/limited mobility clients in the Jefferson County area, we are working on expanding to providing in-home therapy based on eligibility. Stay tuned!
Typically, when you call to schedule an appointment, we will gather information on what is called an “intake” form. The details you provide will help us tailor your evaluation experience.
We will request insurance or payment information to determine eligibility/coverage. An initial evaluation will be scheduled once we receive a doctors order to proceed. This is typically a quick process.
Please arrive to your evaluation appointment 15 minutes early to insure that all information is correct. We cannot begin the evaluation until all personal information has been collected.
Evaluations can take between 1-2 hours and depends on the level of complexity of the presenting problem. That is why it’s imperative to provide us with as much details as possible prior to the evaluation.
A typical evaluation will consist of a standardized test, informal measures, and parent/caregiver interview. It Is recommended that the person who knows the patient best accompanies him/her to the evaluation.
Once the evaluation is completed, a formal report will be written and shared with you and the referring physician. Recommendations for therapy will be made at the end of the evaluation and subsequent therapy appointments may be scheduled
. Depending on the type of coverage you have, an initial approval may be necessary before treatment can begin.
We are always here for you to answer any additional questions about the process.
We want our patients to be informed and make the best choice that fits them when it comes to financing services. Not ever insurance plan is created equally and coverage might be different and in some cases be more costly using insurance instead of private pay. It is best you understand your insurance coverage for speech therapy prior to making an appointment and a payment decision.
If you need help with this process, please contact us.
As a consumer, please be aware that when using insurance, therapists much adhere to their guidelines for evaluations and interventions which means that insurance has certain “rules” about what is considered a covered service or treatment plan which in turn dictates how a therapist evaluated a patient and creates goals. In many cases this might work for a patient. However, some disorders are more complex and insurance may not qualify a patient because they don’t meet a certain criteria.
That does not mean that there is not problem. It means that that problem doesn’t fit the insurance guidelines. The benefits of private pay removes the middleman and allows the therapist and patient to create a true patient-centered plan of care and address all the different needs you may have. You do not have to get approval for anything other than meet with your therapist, discuss your concerns, makes goals and move forward.
